Level 1 Carbine (250 Rounds)

Level 1 Carbine (previously Basic Carbine) is designed for the new gun owner who desires to learn the fundamental elements of safely using a carbine and is step 1 in the Fieldcraft Carbine Series. Students will gain comfort and familiarity with this platform in a stress-free environment, while strictly adhering to the four firearm safety rules. Level 1 Carbine provides a solid foundation of skills to increase your personal preparedness, and students who complete Level 1 Carbine will be prepared to take Level 2 Carbine.

• Firearm safety and handling
• Range safety
• Gear selection and setup
• Sight-in/zero procedures
• Loading and unloading procedures
• Fundamentals of marksmanship
• Ready positions
• Magazine changes
• Shooting positions and transitioning to shooting positions
• Multiple shots/multiple targets
• Malfunction drills
• Transition drills

Required Gear:

• 250 rounds ammunition
• Carbine
• Weapon site
• Sling
• 3 magazines
• 2 magazine carriers (belt or vest)
• Eye protection
• Ear protection
• Gloves
• Snacks and water
• Comfortable clothing, sturdy close-toed shoes appropriate for the weather and environment

Pre-Requisites:

There are no pre-requisites or recommended courses to take before Level 1 Carbine.  This is an entry level course that will build your skills from the ground up.

Additional Info:Please note that the venue is a private range. The turnoff is across the street from Hidden Oaks Campground and the campground is a good entry for Google maps. Once you turn off the highway, you will drive down a dirt road for a good bit before you reach the range. If you need lodging for this course, Covington, Louisiana is the ideal town to search for hotels.
